About My Psychotherapy Practice

Office Photo Jen Headshot_edited.jpg
Hi, I'm Jennifer, and I am so happy you are here, taking steps toward living a more satisfying life.  I am passionate about helping my patients improve their mental health and overall well-being. My framework is patient-centered and holistic, supporting patients in building awareness and insight into how they are wired, what nourishes them, and how they can become powerful agents of change in their own lives.

I implement a blend of somatic, psychodynamic, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, and relational modalities. I specialize in Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) to help patients identify and address the root cause of present triggers and ailments. I am an EMDR-trained therapist through an EMDRIA-approved entity, and I am earning hours towards becoming an EMDRIA Certified Therapist.

I have experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families dealing with PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, unhealthy relationships (with people, sex, money, food, etc.), marital distress, divorce, parent-child conflict, co-parenting conflict, caregiver and work-related distress, medical treatment/illness, loss, relocation distress, and prenatal and postpartum issues.

I am registered as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT145374) and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC16438), working remotely under the supervision of Dr. Rhodri Scantlebury (PSY27197) and the clinical direction of Dr. Manuel Fernandez (PSY26787) at La Concordia Wellness Center.

About My Coaching Practice

IMG_3626.jpeg
Participating in a coaching program can help accelerate you towards realizing your higher purpose and deepest desires.  When you work with me as a coach, we will first explore the patterns in your life that have been preventing you from moving forward with ease.  We will work through understanding the autonomic nervous system and its role in the patterns. We cannot talk our way through healing; we must embody the experience through new behaviors and habits.

I approach healing holistically, within the framework of all facets of life that create meaning and connection, including work, family, friends, community, food/cooking, physical activities/engagement, spiritual function, and education.  I hold a certificate as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and I believe that nourishing our bodies through food - what and how we eat - is essential to overall healing.  We develop a deeper connection to ourselves, including our personal histories and points of view, as we explore cooking and other integrative nutrition practices.
The quality of your relationship to your environment and others depends on your relationship to yourself. I work with you to develop clear objectives, set measurable and achievable goals, and guide you through the challenges of the process.  Growth is uncomfortable, so it's not about avoiding the discomfort but how to move through it.
